New York Community Trust Partners Up to Provide Capacity-Building Resources for Organizations

New York's community foundation, the New York Community Trust, is partnering with the United Jewish Appeal (UJA) Federation of New York and Robin Hood on a new $500,000 venture which will provide consulting services for hundreds of New York nonprofits suffering economic hardship due to COVID-19.

The partnership has enlisted the help of six organizations including: Cause Effective, Community Resource Exchange, Lawyers Alliance, Nonprofit Finance Fund, Operations Inc., and Support Center.

These organizations will provide much needed capacity-building services such as fundraising, human resources and leadership development for board and staff. These capacity-building resources will be available to current nonprofit partners of New York Community Trust, UJA-Federation and Robin Hood.

“The future of many vital New York City nonprofits has been jeopardized by the coronavirus’s economic toll. Canceled benefits, shuttered cultural spaces, the costs of doing everything remotely…all these have weighed on organizations that operate on tight budgets in the best of times,” says Shawn Morehead, vice president for grants at The New York Community Trust. “We are thrilled to join with other funders to pool resources to increase the capacity of these six critical providers.”
